Biography

Margarita Mulero-Pázmány, PhD in Biology. I am a conservation biologist focusing my research on spatial ecology, conservation of animal species and to understand and minimize how human activities affect wildlife. I am specialized on the use and development of conservation technologies for wildlife studies, such as drones, camera traps, IoT and artificial intelligence. These tools offer advantages over traditional methods by reducing the effort, costs and disturbance associated to animal research. I have published 31 peer-reviewed articles, 20 of them in JCR Q1/Q2 journals, presented communications to 40 congresses, and participated in 21 research projects involving multidisciplinary teams (engineers, biologists, computer scientists) from public and private international institutions. My professional career started in Doñana Biological Station, CSIC (Spanish Council for Scientific Research, Spain), followed by postdoc stays in the Swiss Ornithological Institute (Vogelwarte, Switzerland) and Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (Ecuador). I spent four years working as a Senior Lecturer in Drone Applications in Natural Sciences in Liverpool John Moores University (United Kingdom) and since 2022 I am devoted to research and teaching activities as a Lecturer in Zoology in University of Malaga, Spain.
