Biography

Ivana Mikolic is an EC Projects Leader at NATO STO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), and also serves as the CMRE NATO Science and Technology Board Secretary. She is leading 11 maritime scientific and research projects funded by the EU and EDA.

She obtained her Master’s degree in Control Engineering and Automatization at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (UNIZG-FER) in 2012. During her studies and after, she was a member of many NGOs, private companies, organizations, and institutions where she designed, developed, and organized more than 200 cultural, educational and sports projects and events. From 2015 to 2020, she was a Project Manager of scientific and research projects of the Laboratory for Underwater Systems and Technologies – LABUST and Laboratory for Robotics and Intelligent Control Systems – LARICS at UNIZG-FER. She was a project manager of 16 EU (FP7, H2020, ERDF, Interreg, Erasmus+, ECHO-DG), 1 NATO Science for Peace, 4 Office of Naval Research (ONR/-G), and several national projects related to robotics at the UNIZG-FER. Together with Prof. Stjepan Bogdan, she was a coordinator of H2020 project AeRoTwin.

She was a part of the International Interdisciplinary Field Workshop of Maritime Robotics and Applications Breaking the Surface – BTS Organizing Committee since 2009, and Chair since 2012 to 2020. In 2019, together with her colleagues, she started Aerial Vehicles End-User Workshop DroneDays in Croatia. In 2018, she was the Local Arrangement Chair of the 26th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation – MED2018, and the 11th IFAC Conference on Control Applications in Marine Systems, Robotics, and Vehicles – CAMS 2018.

In 2019 and 2020, she was the Treasurer of the IEEE Croatia Section, and IEEE OES University of Zagreb Student Branch Chapter Advisor. She is the recipient of the stipend International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program, and was awarded as one of the three Best Young Project Managers in Croatia in 2018 and in 2019.
