Biography

Emanuele Aucone is a PhD student at the Environmental Robotics Lab, ETH Zürich, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Stefano Mintchev. He is currently investigating the development of aerial robots capable of physically interacting with flexible, natural environments for biodiversity monitoring within the forest ecosystem. He received his B.Sc. Degree in Electronics Engineering for Automation and Telecommunication (cum laude), from University of Sannio in 2017, and his M.Sc. Degree in Robotics and Automation Engineering (cum laude), from University of Pisa in 2020. From July 2018 to September 2018 he was a summer intern at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, implementing the control system of a Burn-in Thermal Chamber built to test the new silicon modules of the CERN CMS Outer Tracker. From November 2019 to March 2020 he was a Visiting Student Researcher at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, working on the development of several control strategies for the locomotion of a modular four-wheeled rover (DuAxel) over rough terrain such as Lunar lava tubes and Martian RSL.
