Biography
Dejan Markac has dedicated the last 18 years to law enforcement, where he has developed a keen interest in technology, particularly in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS). Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to work as a UAS pilot, a C-UAS operator, and a sensor operator on the FLIR StarSafire 380HDc system.
As a UAS pilot, Dejan has explored the capabilities of unmanned aircraft systems, finding it both challenging and fulfilling to operate these systems in diverse environments. He continues to actively fly UAS to keep his knowledge and skills sharp in drone operations. Additionally, he builds his own drones, which enhances his understanding of the technology and helps him stay current with the latest developments.
Currently, Dejan leads State C-UAS Events, where he manages and coordinates efforts related to counter-drone activities and technology. He also instructs on UAS, C-UAS, and FLIR systems, training specialized police units in the effective use of these advanced tools.
On a broader scale, he is a member of the EU Commission’s Home-D2-C-UAS workshop, which addresses C-UAS challenges at the European level. Being involved in this initiative has provided him with valuable insights into the wider challenges and opportunities in the field.
Throughout his career, Dejan has been committed to keeping up with the latest technological advancements and applying them to enhance effectiveness in the field. It has been a continuous learning journey, and he is thankful for the experiences and opportunities that have come his way.
