Biography

In 1989 and 1990, Damir worked in the Končar Electrical Engineering Institute as a system engineer for elevator drives. In 1991, he became a young researcher for electrical AC drives at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) and in 1993 he became a scientific researcher at the same institution. In 1994, Damir received a scholarship for scientific research at the Technical University of Munich. From 1998 to 2012, he worked at MTU Aero Engines in Munich as a system and software developer and as a project leader for safety-critical engine controller (FADEC). There, he led technology projects such as “More intelligent engine” and “Smart compressor”, and he also helped develop some European projects for Eurofighter, Eurocopter and Airbus A400M. In 2007, Damir led the development of a hydrogen tank controller for bivalent drive cars for BMW, and developed a bench controller for compressor testing. In 2007, he left the company for a 3-year assignment for Europrop Int., Madrid, as the CMS (Control and Monitoring System) Integration Manager for turbo-prop TP400D for Airbus A400M. In the period between 2013 and 2017 he worked for AES (Aerospace Embedded Solutions), Munich, in various software development projects for customers from the airborne and airline industry. In 2017 he joined Siemens AG in joint projects with Airbus, where he has been developing electric and hybrid propulsion for future aircrafts.
