Drone-IN Centre for Innovation and Artificial Intelligence Petrinja
PETRA – The Petrinja Development Agency and the City of Petrinja have launched a new project, the Drone-IN Center for Innovation and Artificial Intelligence. Its first phase is the education of unemployed people for drone programmers in the City of Petrinja. This education program provides hands-on experience in designing and programming unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as training using the latest technology and software. The training will be conducted by experienced professionals, and the program is available to all unemployed people from all over Croatia. The Drone-IN project is based on an innovative educational-entrepreneurial model for the transformation of the City of Petrinja. The basis is the cooperation between the public administration, the business and educational sectors, through which solid foundations are created for the development of the city, region and country. The project consists of six steps, one of the most important of which is the training of unemployed people for drone programmers for six months. Through more than 1,000 hours of classes, participants will acquire knowledge and qualifications with which they will be competitive on the labor market in the field of manufacturing, programming and application of unmanned aerial vehicles. Through mentored work and the expert guidance of educators, participants will make their own unmanned aircraft for various purposes. The next stages of the project include customized education for children in kindergartens, workshops in primary and secondary schools, the start of an entrepreneurial incubator/accelerator as a central place for the development of startups, as well as financial support for startups. This will lay the foundations for the development and adoption of the new high school profession “Programmer of artificial intelligence for unmanned aerial vehicles” as well as connections with higher education institutions.
