Operating drones at sea – regulatory framework and similarities with marine drones
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (popularly known as drones) have become ubiquitous in the past few years. Having drones quickly covering large areas over the sea can be very useful in several applications. In that context, landing drones on Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs) has become more popular as well as hybrid aerial-marine drones. This talk will introduce the regulatory landscape for ASVs and its relationship/applicability to drones operating at sea. A parallel between the regulatory aspects of drones and ASVs will be established and discussed.
